Flag

The flag of San José de Gracia was adopted on 1 January 2024 as mentioned in the Official Newspaper of the State of Aguascalientes, 31 July 2023. Its dedication ceremony, however, did not take place until 29 January. It was chosen after a municipal flag contest where residents over 15 could participate. Out of all proposals, the design by Argenis Alejandro García Rodríguez won with 71% of votes. There is currently no law on the municipality's flag, however, it is planned to appear in the next Bando Municipal.

The flag's field is divided in green and white. In the center, it carries the municipality's name and motto from the coat of arms; they are displayed in gold with a circular format. Displayed within this are some things which can commonly be seen in the area: a bird, ear of corn, cattle head, and two fish. At the municipality's Youtube channel, a video of the municipal flag can be seen flying.

Coat of Arms

Nothing is known online about the history of the coat of arms; here is a description of it as published in its municipal regulations:

Over parchment, a vertical oval divided into three segments; in the upper part are two equal ones and in the lower part one carrying half of the total area.

In the lower section, three periods in the history of San José de Gracia are symbolized; with the axe, arch, arrow, and footprints: THEIR ORIGIN. With a sunken building: THE DISPLACEMENT WHICH THE POPULATION SUFFERED UNDER WITH THE WATERS OF THE DAM "PRESIDENTE CALLES". With a hand around a building: THE SAVING AND SURVIVAL OF THE TOWN.

In the upper left section, the naturally made fauna and flora of the Municipality, with the deer and the pine trees.

In the upper right section, with the sun the strength and willpower of the inhabitants in bettering the adverse conditions, with works like the dam "50 ANIVERSARIO" to better agriculture and cattle-raising: CANE AND HEAD OF A BOVINE.

In the central part is the head of an eagle symbolizing independence.

And running around the oval is the inscription of its motto: "ANTE LA ADVERSIDAD: CONCIENCIA, ESFUERZO, PATRIA. SAN JOSÉ DE GRACIA" [Before adversity: awareness, strength, fatherland.]
