The symbols of Makarska, adopted on 12 August 1993, are described in the current Town Statutes Statut Grada Makarske, adopted on 4 August 2009 by the Town Assembly, and published in the Town official gazette Glasnik Grada Makarske, No. 8. This repeats the 2002 and 2007 Statutes, and, probably, some earlier Statutes.
The symbols were designed by Ljubo Urlić, an architect from Makarska.
The flag (municipal website) is in proportions 1:2, blue, and further described in Article 8 of the Statutes as follows: "On its front side, closer to the hoist, is set
the coat of arms of Makarska. The coat of arms is divided from the blue field with a thin silver line.
Literally, the coat of arms is to be set only on the obverse of the flag and not on the reverse. I guess that this detail is mainly ignored in practice.

The flag is blue with a coat of arms next to a spear on the front. On the
reverse, only a blue field without a coat of arms is prescribed! The vertical
table flag has the name of the city written on the bottom.

The coat of arms (municipal website) is "Gules a hand argent issuant from dexter holding a sabre and in sinister chief a mullet of the same". It is described in Article 7 of the Statutes in a rather longish fashion with a lots of repetition and explaining of its rather obvious symbolism. It is the modernization of the coat of arms shown in the Fojnica Armorial (16th century) and preserved in a stone carving on the Venetian fountain (17th century) in the middle of the town.

The coat of arms is in a red field a silver flexed hand issuing from the right edge and holding a saber, and in the upper left corner a silver six-pointed star. The coat of arms is a modernization of the coat of arms of Makarska shown in the Fojnica coat of arms from the 16th century, and it is also found on the relief on the Venetian fountain from the 17th century. st., on Kačićev Square in the center of the city. It is also used in the seals of the Municipality of Makarsko-primorska from the middle of the 17th century. century, and in its modern form from 1866. The color red is said to symbolize blood and life, the star light and victory, and the right hand with a saber victory, courage and strength.

"Bura" is the Croatian name of the north-eastern wind blowing from the coast towards sea in wintertime, very strong and feared by sailors.
The burgee of the club (website) is a triangular light blue burgee with a yellow arrowhead and the coat of arms of Makarska at hoist. The coat of arms is represented after the one preserved in a stone carving on a square in Makarska, here in blue and yellow.
