The municipality of Carpio (often called El Carpio; 1,100 inhabitants in 2009; 5,683 ha) is located in the southeast of Valladolid Province, 60 km from Valladolid.
Ivan Sache, 16 December 2010
The flag and arms of Carpio, designed by Instituto Borbone de
Heráldica Municipal, are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 22 March
2005 by the Municipal Council, signed on 5 April 2005 by the Mayor, and
published on 27 May 2005 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 101, p. 9,271 (text).
The symbols are described
as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular panel, with proportions 1:1, horizontally divided into three equal parts, green on top, red on bottom and white in the middle, the middle stripe charged with the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: 1. Gules a castle or, 2. Vert a flame or surrounded by two spikes of the same on the division a fess argent [Crown not mentioned].
The today's municipal coat of arms must have superseded an older one,
prescribed by a Decree adopted on 2 December 1999 by the Municipal
Council, signed on 14 December 1999 by the Mayor, and published on 24
December 1999 in the official gazette of Castile and No. No. 247, p.
12,832 (text). It is possible that the first proposal was turned down by the
Royal Academy of History, so that the Municipal Council decided to
adopt a new one
The coat of arms is described
as follows:
Coat of arms: Made of four quarters, the first with five fleurs-de-lis on a white field (the fleurs-de-lis blue), the second with thirteen blue roundels on a white field, the third with a bend between snakes and the fourth made of five poplar leaves [panellas] or on white with waves argent [Crown not mentioned].
