The flag of Río Negro is composed of four colors: celestial blue, yellow,
white and a green, in a rectangle panel arranged as follows:
- the celestial
blue equilateral triangle covers 50% of the flag's area. Its color alludes to
the sky and the rivers' water, reflecting purity and transparency. It recalls
that the territory of Río Negro is rich in rivers and cascades, forming one of
the world's main wet areas, where rain is an eternal company. Its shape
highlights the need to carry on the way.
- yellow covers 40% of the flag's
upper part. It alludes to all resources of the territory, and specifically, to
the historical production of naranjilla [Solanum quitoense Lam.] and
sugar cane.
- white covers 20% of the flag. It symbolizes the ways,
specifically through rivers and cascades. The vertex of the triangle reaches its
center to highlight the aspiration to progress through purity.
- green covers
40% of the lower part of the flag. Its symbolizes the green fields in the
mountains, a fortress of vegetation and woods that subliminally alludes to water
and rain.
