The flag of the Finance Ministry features the Ministry's seal in blue and white centered on a white field. The seal itself is circular and blue. At the center are the white capital letters "M" and "H" for "Ministerio de Hacienda," set atop seven white coins set on their edges, representing the financial aspect of the Ministry's mission. After a white fimbriation, a blue ring surrounds the central disc, with the ring bearing the name of the Ministry across the top in white capital letters, and the name of the country across the bottom in similar lettering. The seal ends with another white fimbriation and a thin blue ring on the outside of it all. Photographs of the Ministry's flag can be found scattered throughout the Ministry's website.

The Ministerio de Hacienda (MH, Finance Ministry) is one of the original ministries of the Dominican Republic, founded in November 1844 as the Ministry of Finance and Commerce. From 1916 to 1924 under the US intervention, it was renamed the Ministry of Treasury and Commerce, before being renamed the Ministry of Finance in 1926. In January 1931, the Ministry merged with the Secretariat of Employment and the Secretariat of Communications to become the Ministry of Finance, Employment, and Communications. In 1963, at the end of the Trujillo regime, the State Secretariat of Finance emerged, renamed the Ministry of Finance in December 2006 under Law No. 494-06.
