Shield Sable with damascene Or a fasces of the same.
Meaning:
The village had been already seat of a courtyard in 1483 and gained the high level cognisance in 1485, probably on occasion to its upgrade, as n 1485 Emperor Friedrich III granted the rights of a market town. Local seals displaying a courtyard were known since 1559. In 1838 the citizens wanted a courtyard on their arms with seats of stone for judges and lay judges and with waving flags in the tinctures of the Duchy of Alemannien. All three proposals were however rejected by heraldry aurhorities. In the end the unpopular Roman symbol of a fasces was chosen, which is also alluding to cognisance, which in deed wasn't a perfect match. The background should be simply black, but already the first seal from 1838 displayed the arms with damascene.

The banner was approved on 1 September 1994 by district governor (Regierungspräsident) of Schwaben. The arms were granted on 26 January 1838 by King Ludwig I of Bayern.
