According the municipial administration, the commune has neither a flag nor official colours. The coat of arms is presented on the communal website with golden tincture.

Loretto became an important pilgrimage destination in the 17th century after the Hungarian Palatine Franz III Nádasdy had a replica of the Holy House of Loreto built on his estate (around 1651). The church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, soon attracted pilgrims from what are now Burgenland, Lower Austria, and Hungary. Over time, the pilgrimage developed into one of the region's most important Marian shrines. The new settlement was given the name Loretto, after Loreto in Italy. In recognition of its religious and historical significance, the pilgrimage church, depicted on the arms, was elevated in 1997 to the rank of a Basilica minor (photo ^source).
