The Leitha river is not only part of the village's name, but runs also through it and separates it from the opposite Deutsch-Brodersdorf in the state of Niederösterreich. The Leitha rises in Lower Austria and flows for 180 kilometres through the province before joining the Danube at Deutsch-Altenburg. In certain sections, and in Leithaprodersdorf, it forms the border between Lower Austria and Burgenland. Until November 1921 (when Burgenland was annexed by Austria), it formed the border between the Austrian and Hungarian parts of the Habsburg Monarchy (Cis- and Trans-Leithania) along much of its course. Consequently, Ungarisch-Prodersdorf or Lajtapordány (the official Hungarian name for Leithaprodersdorf since the start of Budapest's Magyarisation policy after 1898) was part of Hungary, whilst Deutsch-Brodersdorf belonged to Austria.

According the municipial administration, the commune has neither a flag nor official colours. The coat of arms is presented on the communal website.
