I received a photo of the flag of the City of Mount Airy, North Carolina, from Nicki Brame, City Clerk/Administrative Assistant.

The flag of Mount Airy was first hoisted in early August 1996. Then mayor
Emily Taylor brought up the idea of a city flag four years before while working
as a city commissioner, although no one was interested in the idea at the time.
Taylor did hold onto the idea and it was approved by the city government.
Planning Director David Hennis created the design for the flag. It is
entirely possible that there is no real symbolism besides the colors being the
American national ones.
