Pittsboro held a flag contest in March 2018. The minutes of city council
meetings are as follows:
June 19, 2018: "Flag Contest – Marty Carter
informed the Council there were ten (10) entries. The committee costed of Phil
Tucker, Lyn Love and Marty Carter. They felt the first place went to the Skyline
however, the Council didn't feel it was flag worthy. They overruled and went
with the Red, White, and Blue P with a star. But wanted the artist to add the
letters "ittsboro" in the blue stripe. 2nd Place goes to the landscape design,
Scott Hammons, and 3rd place goes to the Yellow, Blue and Green stripes with
tree in the middle, Jaylynn Love. Honorable Mention goes to the One Room School
House."
July 17, 2018: "Flag Contest Update – Shari Ping said the presentation at the
Freedom Celebration went well. One flag was given to Michelle Itczak along with
her winnings the next day. There is a flag flying at the Town Hall and one will
be flying at Scamahorn Park and in the downtown parking lot across from the
Mason Inn."
I was emailed a pdf file of the official flag. I was assured
that the flag has a black border around it.
