This Midwest US company seems to very popular, sites abound – see: www.cnwhs.org/links.pl

Timetable by Joe Piersen: www.cnwhs.org/ch_cnw.htm

For an overview see this Wikipedia page (history starts in 1848 and ends when Union Pacific buys the company, 1995): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_and_North_Western_Railway

The following discussion forum page mentions various names borne by the company, including a period when it was `Employee Owned': www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,919115

These changes were reflected in the logo known as the "ball and bar", adopted in 1891 and modified over the years. The one in the photo was introduced in 1982 and similar flags – bearing lightly changed logos – may well have existed.
