Boston Whaler is a fiberglass small boat manufacturing company based in the
US and headquartered in Edgewater, Florida. The company was founded in 1958 by
Dick Fisher, a Harvard University graduate who experimented with small boat
designs until hitting on one that became the original Boston Whaler,
manufactured by Fisher-Pierce. Fisher-Pierce sold the Boston Whaler operation to
CML Group in 1969, who then sold it to Reebok Corporation in 1989, where it was
purchased by Meridian Sports in 1994, and finally ending in the hands of
Brunswick Corporation in 1996.

I recently saw the
Boston Whaler corporate flag being flown at a boat dealership in Queen Anne's
County, Maryland. The flag consists of the Boston Whaler corporate logo in red
centered on a white field. The logo itself features the curving line of a boat's
keel or lower hull, while the deck of the boat is composed of the word "BOSTON"
in small, red, italicized, capital letters on the left and a red harpoon
stretching from the word to the rightmost point of the curved line. The word
"WHALER" is in larger, red, italicized, capital letters between the harpoon and
the curved line.
