The Rev. Canon R. Mwitha Akiri, PhD, General
Secretary of the Anglican Province of Tanzania, has informed me that the Church uses
the National Flag of Tanzania as its Ecclesiastical flag, and that it is flown
in the cathedral and in all diocesan cathedrals; it is also carried in
ecclesiastical processions immediately behind the Archiepiscopal or Episcopal
Crosier and ahead of the Archiepiscopal or Episcopal Staff when carried by
someone other than the Archbishop or Bishop. The Province itself has a Coat of
Arms, as do most, but not all, of the dioceses. There are no plans to create
either a Provincial flag or a diocesan flags; this is largely because
Anglicanism is a minority faith within Tanzania.
