The municipal symbols of Lovrenc na Pohorju (images) are prescribed by Decision Odlok o istovetnostnih simbolih občine Lovrenc na Pohorju, adopted on 1 June 2000 and published in the official local gazette Medobčinski uradni vestnik, 11/2000.
The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.
The flag is horizontal, in proportions 2:5, vertically divided in three
fields green-yellow-green, the middle one being square and bearing a
juniper tree from the municipal coat of arms.
The town of Lovrenc na Pohorju,
included in the municipality, has its own flag and coat of arms.

Rejected proposal of municipal flag and arms - Images by Željko Heimer, 10 October 2002
While discussing the adoption of the new symbols, in the final phase, some proposals were made public. The proposals shown above were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images were made.
The flag proposal is of a design characteristic of the Slovenian
municipal flags. A cross of unusual shape is made of a combination
of an horizontal division in three stripes and a vertical division in
three unequal stripes, which is often known as
Canadian pale. Therefore, the flag has four
rectangles, one in each corner, while the main field forms an unusual
wide cross. The vertical arm of the cross is square and bears some
attribute from the coat of arms as a rule.
The flag overall proportions are 2:5. It can be easily shown that the
corner rectangles should be 1/3 h x 3/4 h, h being the flag height.
The flag proposal has such a yellow on a green field, with a juniper tree from the coat of arms as the central attribute.

Flag and arms of the town of Lovrenc na Pohorju - Images by Željko Heimer, 18 October 2002
When the municipality of Lovrenc na
Pohorju adopted its new symbols, the traditional symbols of
the town of Lovrenc (images) were not suppressed. The historical coat of arms was preserved and a banner to go with it was adopted. Those symbols are used in Lovrenc together with the municipal symbols in many occasions.
The flag of the town of Lovrenc na Pohorju is prescribed by
Decision Odlok o istovetnostnih simbolih občine Lovrenc na
Pohorju, adopted on 1 June 2000 and published in the official
local gazette Medobčinski uradni vestnik, 11/2000.
The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.
The banner (prapor, as it is called in the aforementioned Decision) is red with the coat of arms of the town set in a cartouche in the middle of the flag. Along the upper and lower edges of the flag, there is a floral ornament, and the full name of the town is inscribed in red on a yellow stripe in the middle of the flag. The banner is prescribed in proportions 1:2, but the proportions 2:5 are allowed "when needed".
The coat of arms of the town of Lovrenc na Pohorju is "Or an arm issuant from a cloud azure issuant from dexter, clead
argent and with a cuff gules adorned with a cross fleury argent,
holding a grille sable".
It is derived from the medieval seal of the town, the grill being
St. Lawrence's (Lovrenc) attribute.
