The Mountain Rescue Service (Gorska služba spasavanja - GSS, website), founded in 1952, is a non-profit organization aimed at rescuing hikers, climbers, paragliders and spelunkers. With a membership of 150 experienced mountain rescuers, GSS is commissioned by the Ministry of Interior of Serbia for rescue operations in inaccessible places. GSS is a member of IKAR-CISA (Internationale Kommission für Alpines Rettungswesen - Commission Internationale de Sauvetage Alpin / International Commission for Alpine Rescue) and of ECRA (European Cave Rescue Association).

The flag of GSS (photo, photo, photo) is red with the organization's emblem in the middle. The emblem of GSS is a white disk charged with a Red Cross and an edelweiss flower, surrounded by a blue ring inscribed with the name of the organization in white capital letters.
