Shield Argent, a chevron reversed Sable, on chief a fig twig Vert fruited Purpure, over all a circular rosary Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "VALE DE FIGUEIRA - S. JOÃO DA PESQUEIRA"
Meaning:
The name of the commune means "valley of the fig tree". If the chevron is symbolising a valley, then twig and chevron together are canting. The rosary is an attribute of Our Lady of the Rosary, the local patron saint.
