Coat of Arms

Shield Or two pairs of shackles Sable in saltire, flanked on chief by an olive twig Vert fructed Sable, on flanches by two grape bunches Purpure leafed Vert and on base by a strawberry Gules leafed Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE AZUEIRA E SOBRAL DA ABELHEIRA".
Meaning:
Shackles and grape bunches represent the former Azueira Commune, strawberry and olive twig the former Sobral da Abelheira Commune.

Presentation of Azueira e Sobral da Abelheira

Azueira e Sobral da Abelheira is one of the five communes of Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 4434 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 30,63 km².

Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, two pairs of shackles Or crossed per saltire, in the top quarter an eagle Argent, in each other quarter a grape bunch Purpure leafed Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "AZUEIRA".
Meaning:
The shackles are attributes of St. Peter of the Bonds, because he is the one liberating chained people and prisoners. The eagle is reminding on the town´s Roman origin and the many archaeological troves proving that origin. The grape bunches are symbolising viticulture, the source of riches of the commune.

Coat of Arms

Shield Or, in centre a bee Sable garnished Or between two twigs of oak Vert each with an acorn capsuled Gules, in central chief an olive branch Vert fructed Sable, in base a strawberry Gules leafed Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SOBRAL DA ABELHEIRA".
Meaning:
Bee and twigs are canting elements, as the commune´s name literally means "cork oak grove of the beehive". The olive branch is an attribute of Our Lady of the Olive Trees, the local patron saint. The berry stands for the cultivation of that fruit in the village.
