This city of 15,527 inhabitants was founded in 1911. The flag
of Jayuya symbolizes a town which prides itself on being the
birthplace of the Taino culture and representing hospitality,
[traditional] value of the PR people. Jayuya is in central Puerto
Rico.

Jayuya - The flag has a similar history as the shield.
Rectangular, over a red field, a band of green spikes bordered in
white horizontally divides the flag. Jayuyan Hilda Che'vere de
Carlo sow the first flag in 1975, in her house at the city of
Salinas, Puerto Rico. This beautiful flag is symbol of the spirit
of a people that pride themselves of being the cradle of the
Tai'no culture and to be representatives of hospitality; a value
of the Puerto Rican people. The flag and shield were presented
for the first time in 1976.

The green line should have 3 angle instead of 4 because it is
representative our national mountain that is named (3 Picachos).
Also, I would like to inform that the mayor of Jayuya on that
year who started the process was Mr. Jose Castro-Gonzalez.
