The Flag

The flag of the Munich Olympic Games 1972 was higher than wide (3:1) and had the Olympic rings and the emblem of the Munich Olympic Games in the upper hoist corner. There were three variants of the flag, only differing in the colours:

1. rings and emblem light blue, on a white background;
2. rings and emblem white, on a light green background; and
3. rings and emblem white, on a light blue background.

I would add that there were more variants of this flag, based on this photo. They also used flags with red, dark green, blue and orange background.

However, it should be notes that each of the flags in the image, have a vertical stripe from centre close to the top to the diagonal though the Munchen Games emblem. Most likely, ours should have that as well. Maybe M. Schmöger knows enough to confirm it. Another source is being sent to use by Eugene Hague from New York City. The flag is in his possession, and he describes it as "a light green, with the pink logo and rings." It so happens that today, a horizontal flag of a similar design was offered for sale on eBay. I can't really do it justice today, but for those who want to know: It is teal, with I think white emblems as in the vertical flags, but with dividing lines on both sides.

Regarding the Games of the XX Olympiad: Munich 1972; I sent a vertical flag, and I promised to send a horizontal one: is being offered. I see the same seller offers some other related flags, so I may return to the issue. I'm not sure about the size, as the seller doesn't bother about it as they already showed a ruler. Unfortunately, since the seller is from the US, the ruler may be in inches, rather than cm. Also, the image is actually the mirror image from the reverse, as that seemed to give better results then the actual obverse. It's one of the problems of selling a flag that is wrapped in plastic. As far as I can see, the design is no different.

Regarding the Games of the XX Olympiad: Munich 1972; I said I might send another horizontal one: being offered by clarice98. This a orange horizontal one, with black verticals and white emblem; the length being 47 units, including the hoist, and the width being 30.5. Clarice is till from the USA, and my guess remains that those units may well be inches.

Regarding the Games of the XX Olympiad: Munich 1972; I said I would send another one: But navigating to get to that yet another one, I came across . This is another horizontal one, offered by eBay user bamalamcat. This one however, is white, with the black verticals, and with the emblems in blue. The title is "VTG ORIG OFFICIAL COTTON CLOTH MUNICH 1972 SUMMER OLYMPICS STADIUM FLAG 45" X 80". But notice that although the event was in Germany, user bamalamcat is from Michigan in the US, and the " therefore indicate the size in inches. Thus, I take the flag to be 80*45 inches. Larger size images are part of the ad, though.

Pennants

An offer for a hanging pennant for München 1972 appeared on ebay. It has a red stripe of approximately a quarter of the hoist, with on it in white the Olympic Emblem and the 1972 emblem. The field is yellow, maybe ochre. Along the hoist it says München on the dexter part of the field and 1972 on the sinister part, all in white.
Checking further images shows its reverse (or maybe rather its obverse) is the same, but with different colours: The field is dark aqua, the stripe is white, the emblems are in the field colour, and the texts in the stripe colour. What exactly this is, I don't know. I include smaller versions of the photograph. I sought no permission to reuse; they're just intended to help understanding or redrawing.
