adopted 11 Nov 2004; design: R.J.P.M. Vroomen.
The flag of Echt-Susteren is at the municipality's homepage,
where it is mentioned as having been introduced during the New Years reception
of 2 Jan 2005, after having been adopted by the municipal council on 11
Nov 2004.
It is a combination of elements from the flags of the former municipalities,
which form the new municipality since 1 Jan 2003: the white saltire and
the yellow cross crosslet on red of Echt, and the blue
lozenges on white (reversed colors) of Susteren.

Echt is in middle Limburg, between Roermond and Sittard. There was brick-
and tile-manufacturing, and of course asparagus was grown here.
The flag is derived from the Coat of Arms, where there are 12 crosses for the
12 villages (parishes) of the municipality. Flag adopted 23 Jun 1983; design:
R.J.P.M. Vroomen.
