Coat of Arms

from yuriria.gob.mx

The council told me the coat of arms of Yuriria was adopted in the 19th century, being found on the principal facade of the convent; but probably adopted later. Description according to the council:

The shield of Yuriria is represented by trunks of ahuehuete trees. Laced with a relevant historic scene of the conflict with the Chichimeca groups of the North, which attacked the city and kidnapped certain inhabitants, but given to the bravery of an indigene native to the town he achieved their rescue. The cypresses were planted in the orchard of the Augustinian friars, and denominated "Antón Trompón", person who emerged victorious according to the chronicles of a battle with the tribes that came from the Chichimeca region. "María Patueca", in honor to his wife who was rescued in the named attack. "Niño perdido", since this event had a baby in arms which narrates some legends, it was lost and never found again, although other theories establish this baby was found again.

In the central part a symbol of water is highlighted, since the place has a quantity of springs which today continue being principal points of supplying of drinking water for the population and is represented by a circle which symbolizes the birth where water emerges between the rocks.
