The council informed me they do not know when their flag was adopted. The flag of Apaseo el Grande is white with its municipal coat of arms centered upon it.

Coat of Arms

from guanajuato.gob.mx

In 1957, the State Legislature was asked to changed the Municipal name from Apaseo to Apaseo el Grande, to avoid confusion with neighboring Apaseo el Alto, on 22 February 1957. The Municipal Council, that same day, also approved a coat of arms designed by Don José Estrella Vázquez, Don Ignacio Estrella Primo; and drawn by Julián Rodríguez. Description according to the Municipal Council:

It is a coat of arms rounded at the point, in the old Spanish form, whose minor and major dimensions should have a proportion of five to six.
It is cut in chief, in whose extremes are two golden suns of sixteen rays, each sone symbols of indigenous and hispanic races; and in the center a Latin cross in sable-sign of the unity of the races,- found over a field of blue – diaphanous sky that characterizes the region.
The rest of the shield is cut into two sections, the dexter section being divided into two fields: the extreme field is composed of five bands of sable over a vert field-signs of the human activity, symbolizes by agriculture and the next field a stick of azure over a field of gules-representation of the region, law, and government that make possible, with human activity, civilization.
Over both fields, a shell in silver is placed with a concave face in front – reminder that the activity of the missionaries furthermore, from being symbols of the patron saint of the municipal seat, Saint John the Baptist.
In the sinister section over a field of vert – the wild and uncultivated land, a flower is placed (that represents the wild sunflower) drawn in the natural way and in live yellow color, almost orange-representation of the natural fertility of the Apasense soil -, with two passing weasels, of natural color, placed over the stem – sign of the phore [sic; purépecha] root of the name of the municipal seat and the entire region.

All of the aforementioned is within a bordure of gold through which eight Aztec hieroglyphs for water run - named atles -, from top to bottom, in azure, carrying two of them white flowers.
The bordure of gold signifies the fruits of the civilization while the atles are memory of the waters of the Manantial del Nacimiento spring and the works undertaken in its exploitation.
Finally and in sable letters the anagram APATZEO is written in the point of the bordure.
Under the coat of arms and over a ribbon of naturally colored parchment, the motto in Latin tongue is written in sable letters: "ET CAMPI TUI REPLEBUNTUR UBERTATE" which is taken from Psalms No. 64, verse 12, and which signifies in Spanish [English] tongue "And your fields shall be filled with abundance", which are the blessings Apasenses expect from the creator for their activities.

Older Version (and flag?)

from apaseoelgrande.gob.mx

from Facebook

It appears the original version was the exact same as the current version; with the exception of a National Eagle devouring a snake above the shield. There is this image of a fabric with this coat of arms placed upon it. Could this have been a previous municipal flag?
