The Flag

Located in Toshima City Tokyo and established in 1922. It is also known as Saint Paul's University. The university flag has purple (DIC 226) background with a white cross and gold (DIC 86) kanji initial立 at the canton. It has the ratios of 5:7 or 2:3. The color purple is derived from "Murasaki," a typical plant of Musashino, which is also used in the school's song, "Murasaki Nioeru Musashinohara," and is also the color of champions. The white color symbolizes purity and justice, the cross represents Jesus Christ and his love, and the gold color of "立" symbolizes true values to be pursued through research and education. The university flag was designed and adopted in 1924 by former university presidents Bishop Raiffeisen Snyder and Teijiro Sugiura.
