Located in Matsumoto City Nagano Prefecture and established in 2002.
The embroidered ceremonial flag has sky blue background with a gold emblem and vertical writing gold kanji university name in gold fringe.
The university flag has light purple background with a cherry color and white emblem. (Source)
The university emblem is derived from the Greek god of commerce "Hermes" in Greek mythology. The design is based on the staff of Marcury, the Roman god of learning and commerce, with flapping wings at the top and two serpents representing wisdom entwined around it. It is a wish that students studying at Matsumoto University will be able to fly boldly in order to play an active role in various fields, and that they will be as sensitive to the world's trends as snakes are.
