The prefecture flag was adopted on Nov 8th 1968 by Notice No 955. The circles
symbolize the people’s solidarity and harmonized development and surge of the
prefecture. The flag proportion is 2: 3.

Shimane Prefecture has a variant and simplified flag of red field with white emblem while the official flag has yellow
emblem.
