The city emblem was adopted on Feb 14th 2005 by Notice No 1 but there is no
flag law. The white flag has a green and blue two color city emblem in the
center. The city emblem is a stylizrd katakana マ Ma of Maibara. The green color
stands for Mt. Ibuki and the blue color for Lake Biwa. It represents a bright
and happy image of the city.
