The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Dec 4th 2013 by Notice No 143.
The purple flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem depicts a
dragon holding a gem by three claws and going home from old castle of Ryugamine.
The city flag proportion is 2: 3. The height of the emblem is 3/5 of the height
of the flag.
The maroon ceremonial flag has a yellow city emblem in the center and yellow
fringe at three sides.

Going home to Castle Ryugamine? (Dragon Ridge?)
Is there a story about such a dragon and such a gem? Or are they symbols for the
city in some way?
Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg, 12 August 2014
The dragon is a symbol of the city from the name . Dragon = Ryu 龍
The dragon goes home not to but from the castle to the heaven.
