The university uses two flags: the primary and logo ones. The primary one is the institutional logo placed on a white field diagonally to appear upright. Apparently the symbols were approved by the university to take effect on 8 May 2025.

According to
https://main.soran.edu.iq/about/soran-university/university-logo-symbols:
The institutional logo is described as follows:
The logo of Soran
University serves as the institution’s official emblem, signifying its unique
identity and institutional signature. The design of the logo is symbolic: it
features the tip of a pen poised to write, reflecting the pursuit of knowledge.
Encircling this central element is the name of the university presented in both
Kurdish and English. The use of Kurdish underscores the university's cultural
and national heritage, while English signifies its openness to global academic
collaboration and its aspiration towards internationalization.
Prominently positioned at the top of the logo is an image of the sun,
symbolizing enlightenment and derived from the sun featured on the flag of
Kurdistan. This element also pays homage to the ancient historical heritage of
the region.
Regarding the bird emblem of the university:
Saen is the cultural and
symbolic icon of Soran University. Its origins trace back to Median and
pre-Median mythology, approximately one millennium BCE, with further mentions in
the sacred text Avesta. Saen is a legendary bird associated with wisdom,
vitality, and fertility. Throughout centuries, its name and representation have
evolved, yet it has consistently remained prominent in regional literature and
mythology. In post-Islamic mysticism, Saen came to embody the figure of one who
has attained divine knowledge.
Design Elements:
The Saen symbol
features a circular form.
It includes the name and year of the establishment
of Soran University, inscribed in both Kurdish and English at the top.
At the
bottom, the name Saen appears in English, Kurdish and its original form in
Avesta.
