Flag of the most important little kingdom (there are a total of 22 kingdoms
to-day in the Kei Is., Eastern Indonesia). The King is called the "Rat". The
dragon is called "Lor Lim", the spear is called "Ngabai", the hoist is next
to the spear, and there is a red frill on all four sides.

spelling is BENDERA CHALIFA or Battalion Flag, this flag is 1.27m X 1.75m long,
it reads at the top, the usual Moslem phrase, "there is no God but God &
Muhammad is his Prophet", below in the disc is "SULTAN OF TIDORE".

TRUMON War flag (taken in battle
16th Cent.), I have done a line drawing over the top one to show where the
Zulfiqar Sword is. The Batak King, Raja Sisingamngaraja XII of Sinambela flew a
similar flag, but this was coloured red & white, he reigned 1871 until he was
killed by the Dutch in 1907).
