The University and College Union (UCU) is a British trade union in further
and higher education representing over 120,000 academics and support staff.
UCU was formed by the merger on June 1, 2006 of two British trade unions:
the Association of University Teachers (AUT) (1909-2006) and the National
Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education (NATFHE) (1904-2006). UCU is the largest
post-school union in the world.
