Description

Horizontally striped flag white-red-white-red-white-red, on its centre a green castle with open gate and windows, as high as 1/3 of the flag's height and occupying all stripes except the top one. Centred on the top two stripes, a blue vertical abbot's crozier, separated 1/18 [of the flag's height] from the top [of the castle or of the flag? maybe both?].

The flag is a banner of the arms (blazoned barry of six Argent and Gules a castle ajouré Vert surmounted by a crozier Azure). The castle is that of Porqueres, where the municipality originated; the stripes are the arms of the Porqueres-Santapau, primitive lords of the municipality; and the crozier represents the jurisdiction of the abbots of Banyoles. Flag adopted 29th November 1991. Source for image and text: Fluvià 2001.
