Tabernas is the site of the Almería Solar Plateform, Europe's biggest solar energy collector. The town has an Arab castle and is surrounded by three movie sceneries, where westerns

The flag of Tabernas, approved on 22 June 2010 by the Municipal Council and submitted the next day to the Directorate General of the Local Administration, is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 5 July 2010 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 26 July 2010 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 145, p.19 (text).
The flag is described as follows:
Flag: Rectangular panel, in proportions 2:3, vertically divided into two parts: the first part, at hoist, in porportions 1/3, green, charged in the middle a yellow castle masoned sable [green on the flag in use]; the second part, on the remaining 2/3 of the flag, yellow, charged in the middle with the municipal coat of arms.
The coat of arms of Tabernas, approved on 9 April 2010 by the Municipal Council, is prescribed by a Decree adopted on 13 May 2010 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 31 May 2010 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 104, p. 80 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Vert a castle or masoned sable, 2. Or three spikes vert. The shield surmounted with a Royal crown closed.
