Albertslund's coat of arms depicts a weather rooster (a wind sign) with the letters V and Ø.
The two letters V and Ø of the arms refer to the two parish Herstedvester and Herstedøster, of which the municipality of Albertslund is originally an amalgamation. The faucet itself is thought to be a symbol of agriculture, since the municipality in the 1950s mainly consisted of agricultural land. The coat of arms was designed by the multi-artist Jens Quistgaard in 1952. Originally it was kept in the colors blue and yellow, but in 1995 the stylized rooster in white and blue
comes, as we know today from, among others, Albertslund Municipality's website and official stationery.
