Shield Azure, an embattled wall Argent masoned Sable with central tower with port and window Azure, topped by a roof Gules topped by two swallow tail pennants horizontally divided of Gules and Argent, on dexter chief an impending inescutcheon bendy of four of Gules and Argent, on sinister chief an impending waxing crescent Argent with face.
Meaning:
The Lords of Schönburg built the Glauchau Castle as imperial commissionaires around 1170. The castle became the base of a lordship, extended by forest clearance. Probably since the middle of the 13th century a walled city developed. The existence of a church, dedicated to St. George, is proven since 1256. The oldest known city seal displayed the current pattern had an additional date "1576". As capital of the Lordship of Schönburg the seal displayed the family arms of the lords. Wall and tower are stressing the status of city. The crescent is interpreted as a symbol of the demi-county of Farther Glauchau.

Banner and arms were approved in 1897 by county governor of Zwickau. The banner with arms is in use since 1995.
