Reit Coat of Arms

Shield Or chapé Vert, in base an eagle Sable armed and tongued Gules, in dexter chief a branch raguly Argent in bend sinister flamed Gules, in sinister chief a mattock Azure in bend hafted Argent.
Meaning:
If you prefer, the arms can be described also as parted per chevron embowed, which here is canting and symbolising a nook or corner (German: Winkel). The eagle is referring to the Bishopric of Chiemsee. Reit belonged to its parish from 1245 until 1804. The burning branch and the mattock are also canting, referring to forest clearance in the Medieval and to the name Reit, which means forest clearance. The first arms displayed a white memorial chapel in a blue shield. They were approved in 1929.
