Meaning:
Fir (German: Tanne) and mount together are canting, as a mount usually is a big stone (German: Stein). The pliers (German: Zange) is canting and representing the Zenger family, who ruled the Thanstein district (Bavarian: Hofmark) from the 14th until the 16th century. The horn is taken from the family arms of the Barons of Horneck, who owned the Kulz Manor since 1754. It is also representing other kins of noblemen, who owned the manor. The pliers are also representing Thanstein proper, the horn is representing Kulz. Both municipalities merged in 1978.
