Fensterbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale and by an abased fess wavy parted per pale of Argent and Azure, at dexter Sable an axe Or in pale, at sinister Or a sinister facing griffin Gules having a man´s face on the back of his head.
Meaning:
The fess wavy is representing the name giving Fensterbach, a creek. The axe is taken from the former municipal arms of Dürnsricht and is alluding to the fact that the village was established by forest clearance. The griffin is reminding on the Lords of Saalhausen, who ruled the Wolfring district (Bavarian: Hofmark) in the 16th century and built the local castle. Fensterbach was established in 1971/ 1972 by a merger of Dürnsricht, Wolfring, Högling and parts of Frotzersricht. All villages are connected by the name giving creek.
