Description of flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a blue over yellow horizontal bicolour with the coat of arms in the centre of the blue stripe.
Note:
The flag is painted according to Stadler 1972,p.41, whose open door was painted blue. Veddeler painted the door in yellow colour, i.e. closed.

Description of coat of arms:
It is a golden (=yellow) gate in a blue field. The gate has an open door and is topped by two towers and a gable.
Meaning:
The image appeared first on a seal of 1473. The colours had been chosen in 1911, being the colours of the counts of Nassau, former rulers in Siegen region.

The banner was approved on 24 June 1970 by Regierungspräsident Arnsberg (though denoted as "flag" probably only banner, in local Hauptsatzung denoted as "Stadtflagge"), the coat of arms on 23 March 1970.
