Gotteszell Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a dove volant Azure armed Gules, holding a branch Vert by her beak; mantled; at dexter Sable a bend chequered of Gules and Argent; at sinister parted per pale of Gules and Argent a fess Or.
Meaning:
The development of the village was embossed strongly by the namesake Cistercian monastery, which was founded in 1285. The sinister part of the mantle displays its arms, as first displayed in the seal of the abbey from 1405 and in different versions since the 17th century as part of the greater arms with three shields. The Cistercian bend, chequered of red and white, was added to it in the early 16th century. Dove and branch are taken from the personal arms of Abbot Wilhelm III, who ruled the abbey between 1716 and 1760. He refurbished the monastery´s church in Baroque style.
