Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. Above the silver (=white) field is divided by a black centred cross. Below the shield is divided per pale. The dexter side shows a black cellarman's tool in a silver (=white) field. The sinister side shows in a black field crossed, silver (=white) hammer and mallet.
Meaning: According to source the cross is taken from the arms of the archbishopric and electorate of Köln. The tool is alluding to the lords of Loë, whose mansion was located in the city's territory. Hammer and mallet are symbolizing mining, which played a role for many years. The colours black and white are also taken from the arms of the electorate of Köln.
