Shield Or, an oak twig Vert with two leaves and three acorns, chief Azure, charged with a chain Or, having four links and a framed jewel Gules in its centre.
Meaning:
The coat of arms combines elements from the arms of the former Birkenfeld municipality and Gräfenhausen, which had been incorporated on 1 January 1972. The chief with chain and jewel had already been part of the former arms of Birkenfeld. It is representing the local production of jewellery. The main quarter displayed a plough share, which had been replaced by the oak twig from the arms of Gräfenhausen, which had been used as a mere decorating ornament in local seals and in the former arms of Gräfenhausen before 1930, however having different tinctures.

The banner had been approved, either plain or with the former arms, by Minister of Interior of Baden-Wüürttemberg, published in GABl 299/1964. The current arms were approved on 27 December 1979 by the county administration, published in GABl 255/1980.
