Taucha Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a round tower Or with port and windows Azure, portcullis Or, two turrets Or and a dome interrupted by two avalanche protectors.
Meaning:
Taucha was donated to the Bishopric of Merseburg in 979 by the German king, but became a possession of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg only two years later. It was called a town since 1220. In 1355 it was incorporated into the territory of the Margraviate of Meißen. The existence of a city council is proven since 1569. The local cognisance was held by the city council of Leipzig since 1570. And since then Taucha could no longer play an important role. Basically the same arms are in use since the 13th century. The tower may be a historic building, but it is unknown, which one. The pattern changed in details during the centuries.
