Gmund Coat of Arms

Shield Azure two water-lily leaves Argent intertwined by their stems, in chief an impending coronet, base wavy Argent charged with a fess wavy Azure over a triplemount issuant Azure.
Meaning:
The Benedictine Tegernsee Abbey had the right of appointment of the local priest probably before 1080. Later the abbey became the most important manorial lord. The leaves had been the oldest heraldic symbol of the abbey since the times of Abbot Oswald Torer around 1400. The coronet is a differentiation of the other arms of the abbey, displaying three coronets. The tinctures were modified. The base is probably alluding to the local landscape as the lake, represented by the bar wavy, and the Alps, represented by the triplemount.
