Meaning:
The bear is an attribute of St. Gall, patron saint of the local parish church and of the Benedictine St. Gallen Monastery. All parishes in the Allgäu having this patron saint are considered to be founded by the monastery, which was the most important manorial lord since the 8th century. Arrows and crown are taken from the family arms of the Lords of Horben in Ringenberg. They had been commissionaires of the monastery and owned estates in the village. The charges are known from a tomb stone, which was made between 1506 and 1509. The kin died out in 1767.
