Neufraunhofen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above parted per pale, at dexter parted of Gules and Sable by a chevron Argent, at sinister Argent a chess rook Sable; beneath Gules a pale Argent.
Meaning:
The lower half displays the family arms of the Lords of Fraunhofen, whose existence is proven since the 13th century. The family ruled the namesake lordship, which had been parted into Altfraunhofen and Neufraunhofen since 1409. The lordship had the status of being under direct imperial rule (Reichsunmittelbarkeit), which however had never been acknowledged by Bayern until the end of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806. The chevron is taken from the arms of the Pfeffenhauser kin, who held partial rights of sovereignty in the village in the 14th century. The chess rook, blazoned as a double-knight of a chess board, displays the arms of the Lords of Hinterskirchen, who ruled the namesake parish in the former municipality of Vilslern.
