Neustadt Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent a minuscule "n" Sable topped by a crosslet of the same, at sinister Gules a sword flambant Argent hilted Or pointing to base.
Meaning:
Minuscule and crosslet had been the symbol on border stones of the Dominican Neustadt Nunnery, which had been founded around 770 by Bishop Megingoz of Würzburg. The nunnery had been a royal abbey at least since 794, protected by Karl the Great himself. Between 993 and 1803 it belonged to the Bishopric of Würzburg. Red and silver are the tinctures of the bishopric. The sword is taken from a village seal from the 18th century, which displayed St. Michael with his sword. He is the local patron saint.
