Description of coat of arms:
In a silver(=white) field are three red chevrons pointing upwards. The chevrons are superimposed by a golden(=yellow) clasp (in German: Spange) with the thorn pointing to the bottom.
Meaning:
According to source The red chevrons in silver are showing, that the city belonged to the county of Ravensberg for ages. The clasp is alluding to the city's name. So the arms are canting.
