Lautertal Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a bend sinister wavy Argent, above right sable a flaming heart Or, beneath left Vert issuant from base Argent a fir of the same at dexter and an effervescent fountain of the same at sinister.
Meaning:
In 1969 Lautertal was established by a merger oft he former municipalities of Oberlauter, Unterlauter, Tiefenlauter and Neukirchen. Oberlauter and Unterlauter had had proper arms before. Fir and fountain are taken from the municipal arms of Oberlauter from 1954. They are based on local seals from 1762 and 1780 with a circumscription "OBERLAUDER . 2 . FIRDEL" (quarter). The seal displayed a landscape with a forested slope and a radiant sun in top and a effervescent fountain in centre, a typical seal in Sachsen-Coburg. The flaming heart is taken from the municipal arms of Unterlauter. It is known from a seal print from 1762, where it is depicted with two intertwined hands. The bend sinister wavy is a representation of the Lauter River and thus canting. The tinctures black and golden had been those of the Wettin kin, green and silver those of the Duchy of (Sachsen-) Coburg, to which the area historically belonged.
