Description of coat of arms:
In the base of a silver (= white) shield is a green triple mount. Above is a couped initial "M" of the same colour topped by the mirror image of a smaller initial "S".
Meaning:
The arms display the two letters as a symbol for the name of the municipality. The two letters first appear on a seal from 1617 beneath an 8-point star. The original seal, and other 17th century images, show a normal letter "S". The "S" shown in the arms was used as a local symbol in the 18th century. The arms thus combine the two versions. The triple mount is representing the local Ratberg hill.

The banner was approved on 2 July 1986 by the county administration, published in GABl 688/1988. The coat of arms was adopted in 1929.
