Shield Gules, two winged arms Argent holding a gridiron Or in pale.
Meaning:
The tinctures red and white are those of the Bishopric of Bamberg. The tinctures red and yellow are those of the Counts of Truhendingen, whose seat had been Stiefenburg Castle near Lauter. The winged arms are representing the former municipalities of Appendorf and Deusdorf. The gridiron is an attribute of St. Lawrence, the local patron saint of the church in Lauter.
